The Block Australia 2017: Judges list 10 best rooms ever

THE Block’s notoriously hard to please judges faced a difficult task in Monday night’s episode: collectively choosing their 10 favourite rooms across the past 13 seasons of the show.

Showing just how much the standards have raised in recent years, rooms from early seasons didn’t get a look in, with the judges only going back to 2013 to pick their favourites.

Host Scott Cam explained that throughout the history of The Block, just 13 rooms have received a perfect score of 30 from the judges. Of that 13, Cam asked the judges to rank their collective top 10.

Here they are — the 10 best-ever rooms on The Block:

When it came to the top two, the judges were split: Darren voted for Dan and Carleen’s 2016 kitchen, while Shayna chose Will and Karlie’s kitchen from the same season. Neale was left with the deciding vote ...

TWO: Will and Karlie’s kitchen (2016)

THE BEST ROOM IN BLOCK HISTORY: Dan and Carleen’s kitchen (2016)

“Will and Karlie gave this kitchen a beautiful, industrial spin. It was very luxurious, very contemporary. Dan and Carleen went the opposite way, and I think they played more to the art deco feel of the building,” said Whitaker.

The 2016 contestants appeared on the show, and were stunned when they received the news.

“You’re joking. On The Block, forever? Our kitchen is the best room? We’re just a couple of oldies from WA!” said Dan.

“Well dare I say, I thought it was,” said Carleen. “Thank you Shaynna, thank you Darren and thank you Neale — you obviously have great taste.”
